What Is Classical Conversations (CC)?

Classical Conversations supports homeschooling parents by cultivating the love of learning through a Christian worldview in fellowship with other families. We believe there are three keys to a great education: classical, Christian, and Community.

CLASSICAL
The first key to a great education is that it is “classical.” By that we mean the classical model of education which has proven effective over time. This model has cultivated great leaders in the arts of freedom. Aristotle, Newton, C.S. Lewis and Thomas Jefferson are just a few examples of great thinkers who were educated classically.

A classical education is ideally suited to children's natural learning style. The classical model divides the learning process into three stages: grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric. In the grammar stage, children devour facts. In the dialectic stage, children ask many questions as they sort and evaluate these facts. In the rhetoric stage, teenagers synthesize their knowledge and apply it.  Classical Conversations of NE Oklahoma has over 600 families represented.  For more information, click on the link below:

What Is Classical Conversations Musical Theater (CCMT)?

Classical Conversations Musical Theater embraces the Arts through the classical model.  Consider for a moment the life of one of the greats who has gone before us.  Capernicus studied painting and mathematics in the University and then returned to become a doctor and lawyer, only to rest in the position of a priest!  I say "rest" and yet he spent most of his days pursuing a love for Astronomy.    What a prolific man!  The days of polarizing our children is over. The true purpose of education is to know God fully through our studies of His creation and to build the skills needed to make Him known to the world.  Parenting and educating through the classical model is freeing.  All of the beauties and vastness of our world are open for our children to explore and learn from.

As parents, we desire to see our children succeed in the areas they love or are drawn to.  This is right and natrual. And yet, there is much value in prompting our children to invest in uncomfortable and unfamiliar areas.  Simply said, focused studies are important; nevertheless, even expertise needs the depth of prolific learning. Although not an artist, Capernicus understood the immeasurable value in artistry. Likewise, we should embrace the arts with the same classical view.  It is a tragedy to label kids as they are developing.  Innocently we may announce, "Johnny is my athlete and Suzy is my drama queen".   Left unchecked, labeled students begin to create boxes for themselves, limiting their interests and abilities.

I once spoke with a student who told me, "I'm not an actor but I'll act for you."  I adored this young man and knew that, although he didn't desire to be an actor, his willingness to try something new revealed his inner greatness and classical upbringing .  I believe that young man surprised himself when he took center stage and received the genuine thunderous applause from the audience.  Now, he will most likely not become an actor, not because he lacks talent, but because this is not God's chosen path for him. However, he did learn more about himself and more about God as he ventured from his "not an actor" box and conquered a foreign task.  What bravery!  What rewards!  Let's nurture great minds who embrace every aspect of God's creation.  Greats who thread their prolific learning experiences into a legacy.

Classical Conversations Musical Theater is a safe place for your kids to take risks, live outside of their comfort zones, and shatter their personal boxes. CCMT has an experienced and seasoned team who strive to enrich the avid actor and cultivate the budding artist.

The motto of Classical Coversations is

"To Know God, and Make Him Known," and the Classical Conversations Performing Arts program is yet another way in which our home-educated students can hone their skills in order to achieve that goal.  The performing arts, in general, train students to communicate with poise, passion, and persuasiveness. When these skills are learned in a Christ-centered environment, students will be ready to be effective communicators for the Lord in their life's work.  Beyond the tangible life skills learned, students find friendship and fun in this creative endeavor, and a sense of community and teamwork forms across CC campuses as students and parents work shoulder-to-shoulder to accomplish a challenging task.
